Day 9 at Southwest Harbor

Taken a few days off mostly because of no service (Castine) or pay for service (Northeast), but today we are free again in Southwest Harbor!

Lovely weather for the crossing thru the Fox Island Thorofare to Castine. Tied up at Eatons Wharf. Quaint doesn't do it justice! VERY limited service. Nice town. Home of Maine Maritime Academy. Had the Town Clerk as our waitress at dinner.

In and out of fog on the passage through Eggemoggin Reach to Mt Desert Island and Northeast Harbor. Took a bus ride to the top of Cadillac Mountain but the fog returned just before we got there and the view was a bit limited.

Fueled up at Clifton Dock which is operated by Jane and Alan Joseph, niece and nephew of our friend Pete Joseph. The best news is that Pete has a family account and we were able to charge our 120 gallons of diesel to him! Thanks, Pete!!

Jeff Cunningham told me that the best blueberry pancakes he ever had was at a place in Northeast Harbor. We found it! The Colonel's. The pancakes are good! Thanks, Jeff! By the way, the credit card you used there 10 years ago has expired and we had to pay ourselves. Tried to charge it to Pete Joseph but they did not seem to know him.

Off to Southwest Harbor today with a beautiful ride through Somes Sound. Weather sounds good for a passage to Belfast tomorrow.
